Genetics and Society

The timeline below offers some examples of how Dr. Rabino gained the trust of scientists and access to these important, but often removed, members of our society, and was able to garner their views on sensitive issues.

For the best understanding of the development of Dr. Rabino’s work, we recommend that you read the timeline chronologically, from the earliest period, at the bottom, to the latest, at the top.

2002-2006

In the early 1990s in Florence, Italy, when Dr. Rabino presented data from his early studies during a European biotechnology conference (see A Study of Attitudes and Concerns of Genetic Engineering Scientists in Western Europe,  Dr. John Durant, from the Imperial College in London, stressed how important it was to study scientists’ perceptions and opinions on social and ethical issues, noting that he believed that Dr. Rabino was the only one who specifically studied that group with such an emphasis. That remains true today.Back
